Barb's Books

Blog

Hi! My first blog posting and I don’t know what to say. What do you want to hear about? Probably why a woman who is just shy of eighty years old, would do something as risky as start a website. Believe me, it’s been a struggle!

So far, I’ve posted about two of my books. One is a children’s Easter story and the other is about a fifteen year old boy who is visited by his ancestors from the other side of the veil. By veil, I mean whatever it is that separates us from this world and where we go when we die. It’s been my quest to learn more about the Spirit World, for some time now. I think that’s appropriate for someone my age, but think about it. It’s appropriate for all of us. From the moment we are born, we move toward that time when we will cross over to the other side. So let’s talk about what I’ve learned.

I believe that when we die, our spirits leave our bodies and go into another realm that is part of this world. There, we can rest from our pain and sorrow but still retain our personalities and the part of us that is alive. The part of us that looks out on this world through our eyes and animates our bodies, lives on in spirit form. It’s that part of us that still lives in the Spirit World. There, we are reunited with our deceased loved ones, and I believe, we are still concerned about those we leave behind. Concerned in that we still pray for their welfare.

As part of my research, I have watched this video several times. It speaks to my soul. I hope that you will enjoy this 2010, BYU Education Week presentation by Brent L. Top. “What Is This Thing That Men Call Death?” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5RCrmE6Y9s

Here is a quote from Helen Keller that goes along with what I have just shared. “Death is no more than passing from one room into another. But there’s a difference for me, you know. Because in that other room I shall be able to see.”

Hi again! You may notice that I have added something about the book I am currently working on. I’m currently editing the Going to Zion book. Editing is not nearly as fun as the creative process, though. Just thought I would mention that there will be a little more in the Going to Zion book about the Spirit World. After all, we live with the memories of our loved ones, and I think they do the same. They live with memories and fond wishes for us, too. Doesn’t that make you feel great? I love it!

If you are a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, watch this video that I recently watched. It’s a 1977 BYU Devotional talk by Truman Madsen. He talks about Elijah. It is an outstanding talk. He makes a few references that might be obscure to anyone who is not a member of the church but if you are a non-member, and are interested in life after death, by all means watch it. There’s a lot of information in it.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8e4EaXB3VoE
